Entropes are considered "multiplayer art". Each sale/transfer creates an evolution on the piece based on a number of factors including its base properties as well the address of those involved in the chain.
If the piece is transferred back to any "owner" in <10 evolutions, the piece is "disconnected" and can't be viewed until the 10-evolution chain is complete.
Unless you've got 10 separate wallets, you need the community to evolve your piece.
A major cavaet to the proces below is that there's risk the person you transfer it to simply keeps your piece. I've yet to hear of this happening, but it is a possibility. So, keep that in mind as you go about joining a chain.
You can drastically reduce this risk by only transferring to people you know or people who are active in the Entropes community and have the "Verified" ✔️ next to their name.
The easiest way to dip your toe in the water is to join an existing chain. Look in the Entropes Discord #build-the-chain channel Active Thread list.
Pick an existing chain—Here you'll see a list of all the chains you can join! Just pick one that's been active recently and hop in asking if they still need help with the chain.
Post your wallet/ENS address—The chain owner will ask for your wallet address or ENS address. If you've got an ENS address, I'd recommend using that as it's much easier to keep track of who's who.
Receive the item transfer—The person who started the chain is responsible for keeping track of their chain and who's next in the list. When it's your turn, the person before you will transfer the item to you and within minutes you should see it in your OpenSea account.
Save the image for the current evolution—Before you transfer it, you should save the image of the current evolution so the chain owner gets to see/track all the iterations. You can find the hi-res image at http://host.entropes.xyz/project/1/token-ID.png
where ID
is the number of the Entrope.
Transfer the item—Check with the chain owner to confirm who's next in line. They'll give you address you should transfer it to. The easiest way to do this is to go to the OpenSea page for the item and click the "Transfer" icon at the top right. You'll paste in the address and then hit that Transfer button.
Pay the gas fees—Yes, you'll be responsible for the gas fees. Though the idea here is others will pay-it-forward and contribute with their own gas fees when they help you out. Usually fees around $10-30 to transfer, though they can go up astronomically during peak time. Generally speaking, nighttime hours in the US have lower fees.
And that's it! You've done your part to help build the Entropes community!
